The Maple-Draft 2Standing in the shadow of it's great canopy, I scan the maple tree for an easy way to start. The peace and tranquility that radiates from it, even here in this busy front yard. It calls out to me, like the wind rustling the lives in the branches above. Reaching upward, I tentatively grab hold of an enormous limb. The bark is rough and unfamiliar under my inexperienced hands. Tightening my grip, I lift my feet as my arms protest against this new strain. Nevertheless, I swing into the lower boughs. I land hard, adrenaline causing my heart to pound in my ears. The pebbly bark now seems so slippery; my sneakers are unable to provide the traction The Maple-Draft 2
