Literature Text

There once was a man.
He was mildly wise and commonly clever,
In the ways of love.
Along came woman,
By whom he was smitten.
The game he did play,
The rules both followed and broken.
But others played their hands,
They held the cards of fate.
He caught her when she slipped,
Though he dropped his heart.
She broke it's fall,
But bothered not to catch,
Simply left it for him to retrieve.
The cat and mouse of love,
He can play, and play he did.
The dog eat dog of the hunt he failed,
And slaughtered was he.
